Honors
Member of the National
Association for the Education of Young Children which is the largest
national organization of early childhood educators and staff dedicated
to improving the lives of young children founded in 1926.
Served on the Board of
the local chapter of the Tri-Countries Association for the Education
of Young Children.
Developed
the workshop "Group Time with Young Children" with Leslie
Doyle. Presented at the "Energizing Your Program," a full-day
conference for early childhood educators on June 2, 1990. Other
topics presented that day included "The Parent/Provider Connection,"
"Discipline and the Very Young Child," "My Family/My
Day Care," "You Can't learn about LIfe from a Play Pen,"
and "Beyond Family Day Care; Careers in Early Childhood."
Served as a board Member
on the Santa Barbara City College Early Childhood Advisory Committee.
Affiliated with the Santa
Barbara County American Association of Univerity Women, Santa Barbara
County Child Care Planning Council.
Invited
to participate in the People to People Ambassador Program as a member
of the Early Childhood Special Education Delegation to the People's
Republic of China. The purpose of the program is to have an opportunity
to exhange ideas on the methods used in the United States and China
in order to maintain an environment honored by the education system
and the families of these children with special needs. The cultural
exchange was to provide an opportunity to bridge political and cultural
differences and to unite on the joint goal of improving the quality
of life for young children who are the future citizens of the world.
The lont-germ effects of such a visit are limitless, for the educational
professionals of both counties, for the teachers prepared and the
for the children taught. The selected delegation consisted of 25-30
professional in the field of Early childhood Special Education from
throughout North America. Based on my background, experience and
expertise, I was invited to participate as a delegation member.
